Childbirth classes

We had our first childbirth class last Thursday. It was okay. There were a lot of couples there, so I think the class would have been a little better if there hadn't been so many people. I didn't learn a lot because of the reading I've already done, but it was still nice to be with the other girls and hear about their experiences. Plus, we get to tour Labor and Delivery and see the nursery in a couple of weeks. We learned that there is no NICU at the hospital, so if we are preterm or they expect any complications, our care will be transfered to an off-base hospital. We need to go to the other hospitals and come up with our travel route and do a tour just in case (although I'm not expecting to need another hospital). My belly button is a mess. It doesn't know whether to pop or stay in. The top half of it is out, and the rest of it is still slightly in, mostly flat. It's not very cute--I'd like both halves to come up with some kind of consensus and go the same way, you know? I'm getting more achy each day. It's getting a little old, really. I told Hazen the other day that the pregnant thing isn't all that much fun anymore, and he looked surprised and asked "why?". I'd like him to get pregnant and see how much fun he considers it to be...:p

The good and the bad

Well, we're start with the bad. So far, stretchmarks aren't really bothering me. I have a few on my right breast, and one on my tummy. The one on my tummy is between the holes of my old navel piercing. Well, last night we were lying in bed, and I'm really not sure what I did, but somehow I scratched right where my tummy stretchmark is. Total accident--I wasn't trying to scratch anything, i just accidentally brought my thumb right over that area. It really hurt, and so I grabbed it and said "Ow, ow, ow!" and Hazen asked "What did he do to you?" (referring to the baby). When I said nothing and moved my hand he said "Are you bleeding??" Looked in the mirror and the stretchmark that was once pink is now blood red. Great. At least now I know why they tell you NOT TO SCRATCH. :( Now the good--I can feel body parts!! We were watching tv yesterday and just like I always do, I had my shirt up and was rubbing my tummy. I felt this weird little lump on the right side--it was totally the baby's foot! It was soooo cool. I made Hazen feel it, and he sat there and poked at it. Ian got upset and moved away, but it was still really cool. Later on the left side, there was a large round lump--I think that was his head. :) I don't know how long I would have been able to feel these things, but I just noticed it yesterday. He has pressed his butt up several times (at least once a day) so I'm all lopsided and I end up with this big lump to the left or right of my belly button, but feeling his foot was the coolest thing. :) And Hazen is a little different than me with this whole thing. Me, I love to talk about it and share every little feeling. He's more quiet about it, so that sometimes I forget he's excited. But every once in awhile, he will say something that is so cute. The other day, we were watching one of the baby shows on discovery health (okay, I was watching it, he was on the computer) and they delivered a 27 week baby--I was 27 weeks at the time. It was so amazing because the baby looked like a baby! He was red and had some hair on him and was sooo tiny, but it was a real baby! So yesterday we were eating and Hazen just said something about how Ian looks like a real baby now. So cute. :)

Aches and ugly marks

It hurts to breathe lately. I don't know what he's doing, but it's like he's pressing up under my ribs. I try to force him down, but it just doesn't work. It's not much fun. This is new--just started a couple of days ago, but from what I've read, I think it will be a permanent thing for awhile. And I have a stretchmark on my tummy. :( It's verticle between the holes where my navel piercing was. It's kind of funny--my cousin got one in the same place. :) I hope it's the only one I get...

28 week appointment

I had my GTT today. Not sure how I did--if I don't hear from my doctor by tomorrow, it means it's fine. No news is good news. Ian surprised me. I figured he'd be bouncing all over the place from the drink (it's like pure sugar) but he was pretty calm. I think I was only kicked 4 times the entire time we were at the hospital (a little over an hour). He did kick the doppler when the nurse was getting his heartbeat though--first time he's done that. :) Heartbeat was good--160bpm. A little higher than it usually is (still safely within the limits, though), but I'm sure the sugar high could have had something to do with that. I've now gained 15 pounds. Not too bad, but I really hope not to gain more than another 10 in the third trimester. My goal is 25 pounds total, but 30 would be okay, too, I guess. I was so excited to find out my fundal height. At my 24 week appt, it was 22cm. After 20 weeks, the fundal height is about as many cm as you are weeks, so I was a little behind. This week though, I was a little ahead, since technically I was only 27wks2days at this appt. I don't want him to be behind in any way because I want that induction as soon as is safely possible. :)

Holy moly...

...we're in the third trimester today. Holy crap that happened fast. I cried when I realized what today was. I knew it was coming, but the fact that it's actually here is scary! First trimester you look forward to the second, second trimester you're waiting for the third, third trimester---LABOR. WHOA, WHOA, WHOA. Sometimes I feel ready and other times I'm about to have a heart attack. I was worried about not having everything we need, but really the only thing we NEED at this point is a pack and play and diapers, so I think we'll be okay. I just hope I'm able to breastfeed--it's sooo much better for the baby and that formula stuff is EXPENSIVE. I'm not really scared of labor at all. I'm not really afraid of pain, I never really have been. Everyone keeps telling me not to think of that part or asks if I'm nervous about it and I'm really not. I'm actually a little excited for it. :) And I'm all for drugs, so I don't expect to hurt too much for too long anyway. We'll see how I feel about it once it actually starts...:p

Bored

I'm getting antsy. It's like I want August to get here, but then I don't because I don't want Hazen to leave. But then the sooner he leaves, the sooner he gets back and the sooner we can get back to regular life (you know, until he leaves again). Ugh.
Part of me just wants this kid out, and then the other part of me keeps thinking "No no! Not yet! I'm not ready!!". Life is going to change so much when this little guy gets here. I'm sure it will be for the better (that's what everyone tells me--they better not be lying) but I'm still terrified. I'm used to doing what I want when I want. And the sleeping 12 hours a night? Yeah, I'm loving that. In a couple months I'll be lucky to get 3.
Being at home all the time is not as exciting as you like to think it will be. Vida tells me not to feel bad about it because in a few months I'm not going to get to sit on my butt all day EVER AGAIN. True. But right now, sitting on my butt is driving me nuts, and I feel like the worlds LAZIEST person. :p
I got my first stretch marks over the weekend. I think I have 3 now. Very sad. They just came out of nowhere. They're already starting to fade a little bit, but I'm still sad to see them. I made it all the way to 26 weeks. Oh well. :(

26 weeks

26 weeks today, and no one can tell I'm pregnant STILL. We went into Best Buy with my grandma today. I was wearing this super cute outfit that Vida got me, a green sleeveless shirt and some super cute cropped jeans with embrodiery. Hazen asked where the IPod accessories were, and a girl helped us find them. She looked at me and asked "Is that an outfit?" and I said "Not really, it was just two pieces that looked cute together" and my grandma said "And can you believe the baby is coming in August?" and the girl just looked at me and said "You're pregnant??" yeah. I'm six months pregnant and no one can tell. Wow. :p
