Ian has not poo'd since Tuesday. I have a very regular little boy, so if he skips ONE day it's surprising, but two (heading on three)?? Unheard of. I'm actually watching him try and go now and he's looking at me saying "Poop? Poop?". Poor guy. :(
A list of his current issues:
Constipation
Waking up screaming
Horrible gas
Strong smelling urine
Low fever
Spitting out all medications
Spitting out all EVERYTHING that isn't milk
Not eating
Umbilical hernia making weird noises
We have a call in to his nurse and we're just waiting on a call back. I am really hoping they'll be able to get him in today. Yesterday he woke up from his nap after an hour just SCREAMING. He had awful gas, but just could not poop. Then last night he woke every hour until almost 1 and then a couple more times before morning--each time crying. He woke up crying for the last time at 7:30. I hate when he wakes crying--he always wakes up very happy and talking and singing and laughing. Not today. :(
I'll update with the news from the nurse (if I ever get any).
Good news--he just pooped a little. Not much and it was hard, but it's the most we've had since Tuesday morning. :) (you know you're a mom when you blog about toddler poop)

It's me again...my whine of the day
So, I have decided I hate Vista. If there were any financially responsible/possible way that we could revert to XP on our laptops, I would totally do it.
We have the inconvience of when internet explorer (often) stops working and decides to reset itself. This is irritating in any circumstance, but particularly when doing research or something where you don't KNOW the sites you were just on. Then you get to go through the process of finding everything again. And while this is a HUGE pain and inconvienent, this is not the reason I am posting (maybe posting, if IE doesn't decide to have a "problem").
The reason I am posting is that Vista appears to have issues with wirelessly connected printers. At LEAST once a week, my computer either loses my printer entirely (seriously, it just vanishes) or else my printer cannot be run any way other than "offline". When it's "offline" it will not print. And, the majority of the time, it does not give me the option to put it "online". At that point, I have to UNINSTALL my printer and then reinstall it. This process takes about 30 minutes out of my day, generally when I'm in a hurry and need something printed (otherwise I wouldn't likely realize the printer crisis).
Of course, this is the issue today. I am sitting down at my computer, getting ready to print out some pictures (if you are my husband and Father's Day has not passed, STOP READING) for my wonderful hubby's Father's Day gift. Of course, I have about an hour until he gets home and the "big day" is tomorrow. So, being the smart girl that I am (or the overly ripped off/angered/duped/whatever one), I decide I should check on el printo's status before getting too involved in my project. The printer is not only offline, it has an error and is deleting. That's right, deleting. Apparently I caught it in the middle of it's disappearing act. And since I have no idea how long this "act" takes, I am helping it along and uninstalling it. Then my computer will make me restart, and then I will have to reinstall. I am so ready to break something.
Oh, and while I'm at it, who's genius idea was it to move "run"?? I now have to click on the windows thingie, go to accessories (accessories?? Really??) and then run. What happened to the good ol' XP days when run was right there? I had a horrible time figuring that out the first time I had to "run" something (because Vista didn't automatically start it...shocking right?).

We have used less than one roll of paper towels this month. And these are the Seventh Generation paper towels which have smaller rolls and sheets than we are used to. We used to go through a Costco sized pack of Bounty in about 4-6 months, so being down to less than a roll a month is pretty awesome for us! I very rarely use paper towels anymore--it's actually EASIER to use cloth. We use washcloths for all of Ian's after food cleanings, and rags to dust and clean other areas. Throwing these in the wash a couple of times a week with our cloth napkins (which I got on sale for $1.25 a pack marked down from $8.99!) doesn't add much if any work to my weekly routine. I'm amazed at how easy it is to do things that are good (or better) for the planet. :)

What is wrong with people??!!
We have a very nice park a couple of miles from here. Those in Vegas probably know it as the "dinosaur park"--the nature discovery park in Aliante. There is a large duckpond with a waterfall, and a huge kids' play area. I try to take Ian to the park several times a week (lately we've been going at 9am because of the extremely hot weather) and today I noticed there didn't seem to be as many ducks as usual. I didn't think much of it, and then as we were leaving, I noticed a posted sign. Apparenly, people have been shooting BLOW DARTS at the ducks! What would possess a person to do that?! We have a nice place to take our children where they can "play" with and feed the ducks and some jerk has to go and ruin it for everyone. It makes me so angry!

The week in Montana
On Saturday, May 24, we received a letter from the Lewis and Clark County police department informing us that Hazen had been scheduled for an interview on June 4. In Montana. With 1 1/2 weeks notice. Anyone who has had anything to do with the military, particularly the security forces part of it, knows that it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get leave with 1 1/2 weeks notice. We didn't think we'd be going.
The Thursday before the interview (it took place on a Wednesday) we found out that Hazen got a week of leave. Shortly after that, I got a phone call from one of the state jobs that I had applied to and got an interview scheduled for the following Monday. Suddenly we had an extremely busy week ahead of us!
We left at 11am Saturday morning and arrived in Great Falls at 6:30 am Sunday morning. We were exhausted--thankfully Ian slept until 11 and so we were able to get some sleep. The trip would have been much faster except that we were going through Idaho and Montana at night and those deer creatures scare the holy poo out of me...I went 55-60 until Helena when the sun came out.
Monday morning we left for Helena and my interview. We got checked into our hotel at noon, and my interview was at 2. I was soooo nervous. I have never interviewed for anything that wasn't fast food or retail--scary! I spent the four days between finding out I had an interview until the actual interview practicing the 10 most common interview questions. I wasn't asked a single one. I was asked things that had to do with the job ("What is state land", "How is oil measured", "Reconcile these statements", etc). I was shocked. Apparently I did okay, though, because I got a call the next day telling me I had gotten the job. :) It is with the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation with the Trust Land Management division as an accounting technician. The pay isn't great since I have no experience, but I get full benefits and I will be up for raises every year. There is only room to improve and I am THRILLED that I was able to get a job using my accounting degree with no experience. I was very nervous about that.
We spent all day Tuesday driving around Helena looking at apartments and then houses. We found a couple of neighborhoods that we love and we're hoping to buy a house this winter/spring if everything goes well. We then went to dinner at Bert and Ernies to celebrate my new job. :)
Wednesday was Hazen's turn for an interview. His took two hours--he had to interview for the board and then for the Sherrif. I hung out with Ian at my Aunt Alice's house. Hazen's interview went well, but we found out he had to be back in Helena at 8am the next morning for a psych evaluation. We decided to drive back to Great Falls and then Hazen drove back up the next morning. He should be finding out how he did on the psych test any day and then it will be a couple of weeks until we know about the job. They had an opening in Augusta and two in Helena--we're really hoping for Helena, obviously.
I just let my supervisor know today that I will be starting July 7 (they let me decide since I have to move) and I will be moving up the week before to get settled. Ian and I will be staying with my Aunt Alice for a couple of weeks and she and my Aunt Alta will alternate watching him until we get child care figured out. I am happy to have family that can help us during this HUGE transition. Getting out of the military is SCARY. We have steady paychecks and full health and life benefits--losing that is terrifying. Thankfully everything seems to be going pretty smoothly for us, we just need to hope that Hazen got his job as well.
