Small update and my kiddo

First, the unemployment thing worked out. He now has to accept a job that offers 75% of what he was making...which is still more than anything he can find right now. He didn't get paid for a few weeks, but a nice big check came this week. Thank goodness--there were bills coming due and I was getting a little concerned that we would be unable to pay them!

I have to share what my sweet boy did on Tuesday night (okay, some was sweet some was me wanting to rip my hair out). The not sweet--but kind of funny--thing he did was this: he was running around the house in his underwear; this isn't a big deal, but will add to the story later. ;) We have two little girls that live next door, and they spend a lot of time yelling at each other through the fences or staring at each other through Ian's bedroom window (it faces their yard). He was in his room, on his bed, with his curtains ripped open yelling at the little girls next door. No biggie, he does that all the time. I go along with cleaning up when suddenly it goes quiet. I have one of those children where "quiet" is a very scary word. I approach his bedroom and hear the older of the two girls say, very clearly, "I don't think you should be doing that". I'm confused at this point...why can I hear her so well? I walk in, and Ian's window is open and my Cars undie-clad child his STANDING IN HIS WINDOW FRAME. It was cute and funny but also about gave me a heart attack.

Hazen has taped the window up...good baby proofing, I know...so well that even he can't open it. The child has no fear!

The other fun things he did that day were say to me "Bedtime!" then take my hand, lead me into his bedroom, have me get into his bed (he patted his pillow yelling "Here! Here!"), covered me up with a blanket, turned off the light and said "Ni-nights!" and slightly shut the door. I could hear him running down the hall saying "Story" to Hazen and sure enough he returned with his Cars book (if you can't tell, he's a bit of a Cars fan), "read" me two whole pages, then left and shut the door again. It was very sweet. :)

Later, he was threatened with a time-out, and he looked at me and said "Timeout?", grabbed my hand, and led me to his timeout corner, again saying to me "Here, stay here". Then he did his agitated groan (uuuuhh), and left me standing in timeout.

The role playing that he is getting so into these days just cracks me up! He gets smarter and smarter everyday, and it's just so much fun to watch him make connections that he wasn't getting before.
