My weight loss challenge begins

So, I've decided to finally get serious about losing weight. I've realized that sitting on my butt all day stuffing my face and then complaining that my pants don't fit isn't the best solution. I have started to go to the gym regularly, with the goal of improving how far I run and how many calories I burn each time. Last time I did just over 2 miles (sad, I know, but it's an improvement over last week), and burned 317 calories in 35 minutes. The biggest motivator is that I could easily do 3 1/2 miles when I was 8 months pregnant--it's amazing that I was in better shape then than I am now! On days I don't go to the gym, I take Ian out in the stroller for a long walk. Some days my friend Patty comes with me and that helps a lot--it's good motivation when someone else is pushing you. :)
I've also found a website, www.thedailyplate.com, that lets me enter in how much weight I want to lose a week and then figures out how many calories I should consume in a day to make that happen. It then allows me to enter in everything that I eat in the day and adds up the total calories. That alone has helped me cut back on my snacking--I had no idea how the calories added up! I was eating nearly twice as much as I should have been!! It also let's me enter in the exercise I do in a day and then factors that into my total calories for the day.
I have no real weight loss goal. I am about 15 pounds heavier than before I got pregnant, so I would like that gone. But for the most part, I just want my pants to fit right again, and for me to like the shape of my body again.
Wish me luck--I'm on week two!
