Ian turned two months old yesterday. It's amazing how quickly they grow up. I still remember the blobby little newborn they handed me, and now he's this little person. It's crazy.
He smiles all the time now. He is an extremely happy baby, though a little spoiled. He's held ALL THE TIME so the second I put him down to try and do something (like shower) he gets mad at me. It's tough. He loves his bouncy chair though. Suzi thinks it's because when he's in that he can see faces better. There are times he'll be smiling and cooing in his chair and I feel guilty for having him in there, so I'll take him out and he'll cry. I guess I shouldn't feel bad about it--he really seems to enjoy it.
He's learning to laugh. It's really funny to watch him try to do it. There was one night he was laughing like crazy at my dad, and then the next day he couldn't do it anymore. He sat moving his mouth like he was laughing, but there was no sound coming out. He laughs very rarely now, most of the time it's just the mouth movements. He'll get it soon, though. I haven't gotten it on video tape yet because he does do it so rarely.
He enjoys his playmat sometimes. If he's in a smiley, talkey mood, I can set him on it and he'll bat at the toys over him. He still despises tummy time, but he's getting really strong. He'll push himself up on his arms and scream. I feel so bad that he doesn't do it for very long. It's hard when you know something is good for them but it makes them so miserable.
He's sleeping better now. Some nights he'll sleep for 6 hours straight, and other times he'll only sleep for 3 or 4. Gnerally he'll do a longer stretch and then a shorter one. We're generally up for the day around 7 or 8, and he goes down between 9 and 10 (usually).
He's so tall that he's been in 3-6 month clothing for the last 3 weeks. He's already outgrown a pair of 3-6 month pants--they're now capris. I don't like them. It's depressing because I just bought them a couple of weeks ago and now they're already going into the Goodwill pile. He's also almost outgrown his bassinet--he has two inches above his head and none at his feet. Hazen's mom bought us a crib yesterday, so I need to get that put together and get him moved into that. I'm not looking forward to it because everytime he changes sleeping environments, it takes him a couple of days to adjust. So I'll likely be up every 2 hours for a couple of nights, if he'll go to sleep at all. I was letting him sleep in the bed with me for a little while when we first got to Montana because he WOULD NOT fall asleep in his bed. Finally one night I decided I would stay up all night if I had to, he was going to learn to sleep there. I didn't stay up all night, just until 12:30, and when he finally fell asleep he didn't wake up until 6:30 the next morning! It was awesome! My boobs were killing me, but it was so worth it for that extra sleep. THen he went back to sleep for 2 hours after that. It was wonderful. :)
Well, he's awake now, so I guess I should get to him. I think he's pooping actually--he makes so funky noises and faces when he does that. He's kind of gross.
Oh! One thing that cracks me up is that he is just like his daddy. He sleeps like him--with his mouth wide open, drool coming out, and snoring louder than you think a tiny human being should be able to. Then when he wakes up he makes this big long production out of it. Stretches, makes noises, squints his eyes at me. It's hilarious.
